9TH FLOOR RADIO is a podcast & video production studio located at Laney College in Oakland, CA. We offer progressive on-demand content (all past shows are archived and available for download). Our primary mission is to serve as a community resource to Oakland residence and Peralta students interested in media production. We are committed to documenting and supporting the independent music scene in Oakland, California. You can listen live to our internet radio stream or download past shows at www.9thfloorradio.com. We also produce a TV show focusing on local underground/experimental music. You can watch 9TH FLOOR RADIO on Peralta TV, cable station 27 (Alameda and Berkeley) and 28 (Oakland, Emeryville and Piedmont). If you are outside of the Bay Area you can watch online through www.peralta.tv. Past episodes can be found on our website and on Vimeo and YouTube.

MISSION
To serve as a community resource to Oakland residence and Peralta students interested in media production. To document and support the independent music scene in Oakland; including DJ's, musicians, label owners and event organizers. To produce content for the web and television aligned with this mission.

CURRENT DJ POLICY
We are currently reserving future podcast shifts for individuals who apply for internships with 9th Floor Radio. Internships are six months and provide training on audio editing, DJ equipment and podcast production. Our demographic goal for 2011 is Oakland Residents (50%), Peralta Students (50%). Individuals must fall into one of those two categories to be taken into consideration. 'Peralta Students' include individuals attending any one of the 4 Peralta Colleges.

We are committed to providing content on demand via the web, free of charge, focusing on Oakland culture and providing a voice for Oakland residence and Peralta students.

We are not a radio station. We are a podcast and video production studio. You can download our videos and podcasts on this site. We also have an internet radio stream running 24/7.

WHAT TV STATION ARE YOU ON?
Our TV show airs on PERALTA TV Friday nights at 11pm PST. You can also watch past shows online on our YouTube page, Vimeo page, or at www.9thfloorradio.com/television. Visit www.peralta.tv for more info on the TV station.

WHAT IS A PODCAST?
A podcast is a series of files, usually digital audio, which is made available for download. The "pod" refers to content, the "cast" refers to "broadcasting". In the simplest terms, a 9th Floor Radio podcasts is an mp3 of a past show. You can download any mp3 individually or you can subscribe to the show and get them sent directly to your computer. WHAT IS AN RSS FEED/SUBSCRIPTION?
RSS is "Really Simple Syndication". RSS makes it possible for people to get their favorite podcasts, video posts and blog updates in an automated manner that's easier than checking them manually.

You can subscribe to each of our programs via RSS, a URL that is linked to a specific show. Once subscribing to the feed, you will get each show delivered directly to your computer (we recommend Google). You never have to miss another show! WOW!

WHEN DOES THE 9TH FLOOR RADIO TV SHOW AIR?
Every Thursday and Friday @ 11pm PST. We air 'Chic-A-Go-Go' on Fridays after 9th Floor Radio. You can watch on Peralta TV - cable station 27 (Berkeley, Alameda) and 28 (Oakland, Piedmont, Emeryville). If you are outside the Bay Area you can watch online at www.peralta.tv
