9TH FLOOR RADIO is a podcast & video production studio located at Laney Collge in Oakland, CA. We offer progressive, cutting-edge on-demand content (all past radio shows are archived and available for download). Our primary mission is to serve as a community resource to Oakland residence and Peralta students interested in media production. Our secondary goal is to document and support the indpendent music scene in Oakland, California. You can listen live to our internet radio stream or download past shows at www.9thfloorradio.com. The 9th Floor Radio studio is shared with our sister station, Peralta TV. Consequencly, we air footage of 9th Floor Radio DJ's rocking the (internet) airwaves every Thursday night from 11pm-1am. We also air the 9th Floor Radio Concert Series every Friday from 11pm-11:30pm. The series focuses on local underground/experimental music. You can watch on Peralta TV, cable station 27 (Alameda and Berkeley) and 28 (Oakland, Emeryville and Piedmont). If you are outside of the Bay Area you can watch online through www.peralta.tv.

PRIMARY MISSION
To serve as a community resource to Oakland residence and Peralta students interested in media production.

SECONDARY MISSION
To document and support the indpendent music scene in Oakland; including DJ's, musicians, label owners and event organizers. To produce content for the web and television aligned with this mission.

CURRENT DJ POLICY
We are currently reserving future podcast shifts for individuals who apply for internships with 9th Floor Radio. Internships are for one year and provide training on audio/video editing, graphic design, DJ equipment and podcast production. Our demographic goal for 2011 is Oakland Residents (30%), Peralta Students (50%), Interns (20%). Individuals must fall into one of those three catatgories to be taken into consideration. 'Peralta Students' include individuals attending any one of the 4 Peralta Colleges.

COMMITMENT TO INTERNS
We will provide all interns with new skills that will help their career & creative development.

COMMITMENT TO DJ's
Focused marketing/promtional support on each individual show 4 hours per month. List of tasks will update every 4 months after quarterly meeting with DJ.

COMMITMENT TO OUR AUDIENCE
We are committed to providing content on demand via the web, free of charge, focusing on Oakland culture and providing a voice for Oakland residence and Peralta students.

TELEVISION AND VIDEO
9th Floor Radio Concert Series -- A monthly produced televison show focusing on the independent/experimental Oakland music scene. The Concert Series is posted to our YouTube and Vimeo pages
after airing on Peralta TV.

9th Floor Radio DJ's --- 'live cam' footage. May be edited and utilized for promotional purposes online and on Peralta TV.

All the above will air on Peralta TV Thursday and Friday nights between the hours of 11pm-1am. Also streaming online at www.peralta.tv.

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD A SHOW?
Click on a show name. You can download individual mp3's/podcasts or subscribe to a show.

WHAT IS A PODCAST?
A podcast is a series offiles, usually digital audio, that is made available for download. The "pod" refers to content, the "cast" refers to "broadcasting". In the simplest terms, a 9th Floor Radio podcasts is an mp3 of a past show. You can download any mp3 individually or you can subscribe to the show and get them sent directly to your computer; they will show up in the 'Podcast' section of iTunes.

WHAT IS AN RSS FEED/SUBSCRIPTION?
RSS is "Really Simple Syndication". RSS makes it possible for people to get their favorite podcasts, video posts and blog updates in an automated manner that's easier than checking them manually.

You can subscribe to each of our programs via RSS, a URL that is linked to a specific show. Once subscribing to the feed, you will get each show delivered directly to your music player application (we recommend iTunes). You never have to miss another show! WOW!

WHEN DO THE 9TH FLOOR RADIO TV SHOWS AIR?
Thursdays & Fridays 11PM-1AM. On Peralta TV - cable station 27 (Berkeley, Alameda) and 28 (Oakland, Piedmont, Emeryville). If you are outside the Bay Area you can watch online.
