Recap of Wildcard Weekend: January 10th, 2012


-        Texans 31 Bengals 10

  • Arian Foster dominated, running for 150 yds, scoring 2 TD.
  • Andre Johnson seems to be showing that he is getting back to 100% with a long TD reception and 90 yds receiving.

-        Saints 45 Lions 28

  • The Saints dominated and accumulating 626 total yds, an NFL record.
  • Drew Brees threw for over 450 yds and 3 TD to Graham, Henderson and Meachem.
  • Calvin Johnson set a record with over 200 yds receiving in his 1st ever playoff game.

-        Giants 24 Falcons 2

  • Manning 3 TD 280 yds passing.
  • Nicks 2 TD 150 yds receiving.

-        Broncos 29 Steelers 23 OT

  • Tebow 3 TD (2 passing, 1 rushing), 316 yds passing.
  • Roethlisberger 290 yds, 1 TD 1 INT, reinjured his ankle, looked like he had trouble moving.
  • Thomas had GW TD in OT, 80 yd TD from Tebow, 200 yds receiving.

49ers: 13-3 NFC West champions, 2nd seed

-        49ers vs. Saints

-        Year in Review (Offense)

  • Alex Smith: Best year of his career.
  • Frank Gore: Solid year ran for 1200 yds.
  • Michael Crabtree: Emerging as the #1 receiver for this team and getting better each game.

-        Defense (Best in NFL)

  • Justin Smith: Best player on the defense?  MVP?
  • Patrick Willis: Leader and most important player of this team.

Raiders 8-8 T-2 AFC West

-        Missed the playoffs for the 9th consecutive year.

-        Defense let down this team on multiple occasions and as a result, the Defensive Cooordinator and other defensive coaches were fired.

-        Hired a GM, McKenzie, for the first time since Al Davis was the owner. 

Warriors 2-6 last in the Pacific division

-        The Warriors are playing defense this season, but are only averaging 90 pts/game. 

BCS National Championship

-        Alabama 21 LSU 0. 

-        Most boring championship ever?

Oakland A’s

-        Trading away talent (Gonzalez, Bailey, Cahill) for prospects. 

-        Signed Coco Crisp to 2yr. deal.  Why?
